Typing is a skill you should acquire as early as possible. If you’ve spent time learning to type you don’t end up spending a significant part of your day typing emails, letters, reports or such things. Instead you sail through! It saves you time and helps you focus on your core work potential. Typing has become an indispensable skill as most of us spend hours in front of the computer screens. Some people even say it is the most important thing you learn in High School besides English.

So if you’ve not taken the time to learn to type do it now. Not convinced? You might be losing out on opportunities to make money.

With the advent of the ‘INTERNET’ typing has become an asset. There are innumerable jobs online for those who have good typing speed. You can work as an international data entry operator. You could also bag a real typing job of Old Books, Magazines and Novels.

Such jobs are available and scattered among many websites who are looking for you! It is a great way to make extra money sitting at home in your spare time. Some of the jobs available which involve typing are data entry jobs, blogging, forms filling and transcription especially medical transcription.

The hottest one around is the Data Entry Jobs. It may be monotonous and boring after a while but it surely is lucrative enough to pop your eyes out of the socket! You can earn up to $5000/m and sometimes even more than that. If you get more data entry operators to the company or website you stand a very good chance to get referral earnings too! This job is ideal for homemakers and students who want to work part time to make some extra income.

Transcription jobs includes working for individuals, doctors & physician’s offices, hospitals, and a variety of healthcare facilities, insurance companies, legal offices, research centers, laboratories, government medical facilities, and other organizations. However, you are not restricted to working in an office, and many transcriptionists work from home either as freelancers or as employees.

Typing is also necessary for freelancers who aim to churn out articles by the hour. You may be an academic writer, an editor, a novelist, a copywriter, a blogger, a ghost writer; what you need is accuracy and very good typing skills. You can take up online tutorials as a career if you love teaching or even sell your recipes online!

Many companies hire sub-contractors who can perform typing jobs and save companies a lot of money by reducing overhead costs. This job appeals to many people who have an aversion to traffic and would like to work from home rather than commuting up and down to the office. Many people have taken up such jobs as fulltime as they end up making more money than their previous jobs. Such jobs include Virtual Assistant (VA) and Internet Marketing. For all of the above jobs, all you need is a computer, an internet connection and a good typing speed. In addition you will require some discipline and patience and perseverance.

There is software available on the market which is commonly referred to as a Typing Tutor. Typing Web offers free courses where you can learn to type. These help you to learn and develop speed for typing. It is not difficult but takes time. The good news is these packages are available for free or reasonable fees. The basic objective of such programs is “Touch Typing” which means you don’t have to look at the keyboard when typing. This will help you reduce stress and to be more productive and help you enter more data or type reports or emails as the case may be. If you already know how to type, they will help you increase speed.

It is never too early or too late to learn typing. Nowadays you have typing games available which teach the kids how to type fast and correctly through various games. Even the adults can play and learn through such games as it customized taking in account the learner’s age, gender and preferences. For example- the children games may feature a popular cartoon character or a superhero. It is advisable to assist the children while playing such games.
